Safety Tips for Dealing with SMOKE HAZARDS

The summer season is upon us and there is no doubt that we have all been impacted by the heat and dryness that comes along with it. The likelihood of unplanned fires occurring tends to increase during dry periods such as this.

We are therefore reminding our customers of the following safety tips which should be practiced while driving on the highway, especially in dry periods.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF THERE IS SMOKE ON HIGHWAY 2000 EAST-WEST?

1. Obey the warning signs and instructions of the Highway 2000 East-West Patrol Officer present on the scene.

2. Do not attempt to proceed unless directed to do so by the Patrol Officer or the Police.

IF THERE IS A SUDDEN ONSET OF SMOKE:

1. Do not attempt to proceed through; instead, pull over onto the hard shoulder safely.

2. Turn on your Hazard Lights, and turn your Headlights on to their brightest setting.

3. Contact our Emergency Toll Free Number at 888-429-5632 immediately and await the assistance of a Highway 2000 East-West Patrol Officer. Do not attempt to proceed unless directed by the Patrol Officer or the Police.
